Butterflies, Tears, Second Thoughts

Goodness, dearie (as my great-aunt Adah) said to us kids, I can't believe we're really doing this. Ellie and I are looking at a bleak snowy Monday morning, knowing that by this Friday, we must pack up all our household goods, store things away, and be on our way to the UK for a year.

So: we are overwhelmed with the packing, and relieved at many things we don't have to do to get ready for our tenants. We wonder: "Again, why are we giving up all that is comfortable, and packing our lives in a few suitcases?" How we will get by without Kitty to warm the bed each night and throw up in the kitchen each morning? How will the chickens make it through winter? Will Brits talk to us loutish colonials?

  1. Aaakk! Look at all that snow...at least you won't we coping with that. It is hard to say goodbye to all that defines home, kittie hair balls and all. Takes guts and a spirit of adventure.
What an opportunity to find out about all that Buddhist stuff like simplicity and non-attachment and living in the moment, well, the moment the plane takes off. Then I hope you will relax, have a drinkie or a snooze, nothing else to do til you get to H.W., one culture shock at a time. Many people you meet will not have come from the UK either.
Hang in there, dearie. Love, Bot

  2. Sit back, relax and enjoy the trip...and it will be a trip! Good luck with English as a second language....you will have a new vocabulary when you return...Just mind the traffic on your left as you cross...
    Cheers...Fare well!
    Love,
    Rob
